Q&A What is the difference between 90460-90461 & 90471-90473?

I know one is by the MD and he is to be doing face to face and give the shots not the RN, is that correct? If it is given and a face to face with a PA or ANP etc that is coded another way. Can you go over the scenarios? This has been a point of contention and how to interpret this guideline at our office. Much appreciated.

This was covered in the October 2013 Q&A Webinar by Laureen Jandroep, CPC, CPC-I, who showed how to Bubble and Highlight the pertinent codes in the CPT manual so this becomes clear and easy to determine the proper codes to use.

If you want more info on this, consider joining the CCO Club, so you can access the video clips, transcript, and answer sheets for all the webinar topics. Since May 2013 you can also take the CEU quiz for the webinar and get 1 CEU credit (needed by AAPC credentialed members.)
