I love Dx coding. ICD-10-CM is fun so the job keeps going on. If you need help with your training we are here to help. The forum is a great place to ask questions like this because you can't be the only one with the question.
I think I am seeing a turn in the tide for negative responses to ICD-10-CM. The coding is easier. The transition is what is going to be daunting for some. Your employer is smart to have you working in it now. If you learn something you want to share please jump in and do so. I learned some new stuff today on gastric ulcers in ICD-10-CM.
There are 4 hospitals within a 60 mile radius from where I work. There is also a hospital that is connected to the clinic that i work at. There are 5 clinic coders, 2 outpatient surgical coders, and 3 inpatient/hospital coders. The closest Chapter from where I live is 1 1/2 drive, hard to get to anything in the winter time. Just to cold, ( at least this winter has been horrible).I would love to come up there. Maybe not this time of the year..........Do you have a hospital close where you can get some coders together? You can always start your own chapter.
