I have been keeping up with all things E/M and have noticed that more and more practices are 'requiring' that MDM be included in the HEM even if it codes lowest and would normally (in 2 of 3 scenario) be dropped in favor of the higher levels of History and Exam. So, if our practice requires that, do we, then, just code to the lowest of the remaining two key elements? How often are you seeing that requirement? How will this be accepted in the event of an audit? Thanks! I'm really hoping to see your response to this in this Thursday's (Sept 19) online seminar.
