MDM - Drug Management Options

Example: Patient is dx with lung ca, and the physician notes in the dictation that the patient will be set up for chemo next week.
Do I give credit under drug management options? "drug therapy requiring intensive monitoring for toxicity"?
I have not been giving credit for this due to when the patient comes back in they will more than likely see the physician before tx, thus you have another office visit and would give credit that day for the chemo.
It seems it would be counting for something 2x as high. What if patient did not come back in the next week for chemo and you have already have credit for this?

There is a lot of debate about this were I work and I am just looking for some clarification.
I'm hearing that the drug management options is only for tx given this day????? and then I hear that it is the physicians medical plan and you count it regardless if the patient has a OV or not?

I asked a Compliance officer your question and the information you sent me off the forum. Here is what she sent me:
Alicia,
I'm curious to know what she came up with under Chief Complaint. I only came up with Location, Duration, Context & Modifying factor. I did rate her comprehensive on her exam and High on MDM but if the patient is a new patient the highest level office visit should still only be 99203 because of the detailed history.
She is correct is thinking that whatever the physician orders, she can mark as a credit on the E/M score sheet but unless the drug therapy is given that day, it should only be marked under the Number of Diagnosis or treatment options as, in this case, New Problem; additional workup planned and since the provider also reviewed and ordered labs for a future date, she can give credit for this too under Amount and/or Complexity of Data to be Reviewed.
There's my 2 cents worth.
