I know you hear me say it all the time but your local chapter meetings are very important. These are your peers. Remember that when you network with them you have a better change of landing that dream coding job.

If you are not certified then going to the meetings is a must. If you want to know more about the CPC exam who better to share then coders. Align yourself with someone at the meeting who has a positive attitude.

Getting certified is the goal and the friends you make in these meetings will be the ones to help you further your career.

Do you have a local coding chapter? Find out today on the www.AAPC.com website.

That is great Roxanne. I am sure that chapter will be happy to have you be a part of the group.

I am not a certified coder yet but I have prepared myself with the tools to help me succeed to pass the CPC exam.
  1. Enrolled at my local community college in their coding and reimbursement program
  2. Became a AAPC member with my local chapter
  3. Became a AAPC board member
  4. Proctoring CPC exams to understand how the tests are given and what to expect
  5. Ordered the practice exam from cco.us
  6. Developed a study group
These are some keys to success I hope will help me get my CPC certification.

Wow! That is a great list! I am surprised they are letting you proctor the CPC exam before you are certified. I did not do that, but I went to the local chapter meetings where I was going to take the exam so that I knew where I was going and the floor plan of the building. This made me more at ease on the day of the exam. I personally feel strongly that the Blitz review videos were extremely valuable to my success in passing the CPC exam. Down the road, you may want to purchase them, too. I also made sure I took several practice exams, but did this towards the end of Physician Based Medical Coding Course. Your idea of a study group is excellent, too. With these efforts I'm sure you will succeed.
