Q&A ICD-10-CM Implementation 2014 vs 2015

If ICD-10-CM is delayed and implemented after October 1, 2015 will everyone have to retrain and retake the exam again if he or she has already taken it this year? Thanks!

Sincerely,

Sally

From the AAPC perspective I think everything will just simply get pushed back one year. So they will start including ICD-10 questions on the CPC exam starting January 1st, 2016 instead of 2015. And for those already certified they will probably just extend the time to take the proficiency assessment by one year to October 2016. So if you already passed the proficiency assessment you're good to go. You don't have to retest as the guidelines etc. isn't changing just the implementation is being delayed.

That will also give many of you more time to get educated in ICD-10-CM.

That is great Sally. We already have some interesting questions coming in.

Sounds good, Alicia! You all do an excellent job as always! I highly recommend the Blitz Videos to anyone who is attempting to take the CPC exam. Laureen, you are an awesome instructor!
