Facility HCC coding

I am interested in becoming an HCC coder. I currently work doing hospital OP. Alicia mentioned facilities are starting to hire HCC coders. I am particularly interested in that aspect of HCC coding. Can you tell me if one needs CCS or CIC certification to be facility HCC coder? I currently have COC, CPC, CCA certifications. Should I go for the CRC first or do I need the CCS or CIC?

Since HCC coding/auditing uses only outpatient coding guidelines your CPC and then your CRC are sufficient for becoming an HCC coder. Let me know if you have any other questions.
