Cervical Collar

Do you code for the cervical collar the patient receives after the cervical fusion? Physician is saying we should be coding for the collar. would appreciate any feedback on this

I believe you need to be a DME supplier to bill for this supply code. What I would reccomend looking into is having a DME supplier keep a bunch of collars on consignment in your office and as they are issued you forward the patient info onto the DME supplier to bill the insurance on behalf of the patient. They then will replenish the placed device in anticipation for next patient.

Your practice shouldn't have to eat the cost either. I'd explore the DME consignment thing. Best wishes. Let us know if you find out anything different on this topic.
