My question is on CPT code 80050- General Health Panel.
Laureen ask how many do we see under this CPT code 80050. The answer was eight . Not sure how she got 8 test. I counted 5.
Ruth can you explain this to me with an example.

When Laureen said "Eight" she was repeating the answer that a student gave to her question about how many tests were in 80050. It wasn't the right answer. The right answer is 17!

You need to look at the CPT codes that are parts of the description. There are 3 major parts, but the middle part could be either (85025 or 85027) AND 85004. OR it could be 85027 AND either 85007 or 85009). Either way, the middle part would be just 2 tests. That's a little tricky, but that is the middle part. The first part is 80053, but that comprises of 14 tests. The third part is the TSH test 84443 which is 1 test.

So we have for the 80050, general health panel, take a look at chart where I've enumerated the various parts of the full 80050.

Hope this helps!
