Assigning a principal diagnosis

I am a newer coder and I have my audited cases flagged for not selecting the "best" principal diagnosis. It's not that the diagnosis is wrong but because there is more than one diagnosis being treated simultaneously and there is a diagnosis that gets a higher DRG.
How do I determine the best principal diagnosis?
