As a medical billing instructor, I am frequently asked the question, “Should I train online or in a classroom?” I prefer online medical billing training and most adult learners do. Medical billing training takes about 12-16 weeks. Taken through a community college there are usually many other “subjects” thrown in that you don’t need or want such as English, math, etc. that draws the training time out. Also, busy adults with jobs, spouses, kids, etc. can find it difficult to appear in a classroom several days a week at specific times. Online training is convenient, affordable, and very reasonable for the career field of medical billing.
Why Choose Online Medical Billing Training?
Having said that, there are some careers that I would not recommend training at home for such auto mechanic, etc. :) I really would want my car mechanic to have some serious hands on experience with the tools and systems needed to correctly fix the brakes on my car :).  Medical billing, however, is very amenable to the online career training environment. Training usually consists of  a textbook, online component, and quizzes/tests. Having a qualified instructor or coach available is imperative for a quality educational experience.
Even if you tend toward a bit of procrastination, online billing courses usually are only 12-16 weeks long, so even a confirmed procrastinator (like myself) can complete the training versus a very long 1-2 year online training program that seems to drag on forever. Most adults want the facts, the necessary skills, and they want the information presented logically and quickly without a lot of busy work, projects, etc. Â Therefore, online medical billing training is a great choice for the busy adult looking to change careers, start a career, or enhance their current career skills and training. Â Online training is usually fast, affordable, and a gret option for the busy adult learner.
